ONTARIO - Following the police department's deadly Mother's Day shooting of their family member, relatives of Jose Herrera gathered outside the Ontario Police Department on South Archibald to grieve, denounce the violence, and to demand justice. They were joined by activists from CopWatch IE and checkpoint protesters Hispanos Unidos, who also held signs and chanted along with the family.

Ontario PD slanders Jose Herrera, releases no information about violent officer

There is a new article in the Daily Bulletin about the Jose Herrera shooting case. In it, the police accuse Mr. Herrera of carrying a knife during the incident. They even released a photograph of him carrying...something. It's not clear in the photo what it is. But that doesn't stop the OPD from using this still image as a justification for their barbaric act. The headline in the print edition reads, "Man shot by police had been drinking," which is just another attempt to blame the victim.

Here's the article in today's Daily Bulletin:

Ontario PD shoots and kills Jose Raul Herrera, 59

Just when you thought Mother's Day was for spending quality family time, in comes the Ontario police department to ruin everything.

It is unclear why police were even on the scene, which is a working-class neighborhood near 4th and Vineyard.

It's not the only thing police are being tight-lipped about. They have also failed to disclose what the events were that lead up to the deadly shooting, what--if any--weapon he had (they are claiming he was armed), and of course, they have not disclosed who was responsible for committing the shooting.
