Riverside sheriffs deputies shoot at (and miss) unidentified men in Hemet

They are accusing these brothers of armed robbery. Looks like they found someone and shot at them for "reaching towards his waistband"--the classic justification for opening fire. But it looks like they were able to escape. We hope more information comes out about this incident. Until then, here is the link:

On Friday, September 19, 2014, at about 12:01 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Hemet Station, responded to a business located in the 41800 block of East Florida Avenue, regarding an armed robbery in which two suspects fled the location on foot. Deputies quickly arrived and began searching the area for the suspects.

Shortly thereafter, an investigator located two male adults matching the description of the armed robbery suspects in the area of Orange Blossom Lane and Meridian Street. The investigator contacted and attempted to detain the suspects. During the contact, one of the suspects reached towards his waistband and an officer involved shooting occurred. Both suspects immediately fled from the location. Several Sheriff's deputies and officers from the Hemet Police responded to assist and established a perimeter around the immediate area. An extensive search was conducted but the suspects were not located. No officers or deputies were injured during the incident and the condition of the suspects is unknown.

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Hemet Station and Central Homicide Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The involved investigator has been placed on administrative leave per Department Policy. The involved investigator's name is not being released at this time.
