Family of Lamon Haslip files suit over police killing

We have been waiting to hear what the followup on the Lamon Khiry Haslip death was going to be. We knew it was an injustice--the brother was shot in the back while handcuffed face-down on the ground. Pomona PD getting sued over noise pollution harming animals

The Humane Society has been bothered by the noise coming from the Pomona PD's firing range, adjacent to the shelter, for quite some time now. And now, after quite a while of asking for change, are finally filing suit against the department to get them to make some change. Here is a link from the Daily Bulletin:

Riverside County inmates file class action suit

Just in case you thought it was just the sheriff's department in San Bernardino County that was abusing inmates, here is a fresh case in Riverside County. This is not so salacious as the scandal ripping through West Valley and beyond--this is just about inadequate health care, which is of course a grave concern.

$7.8 million dollar award for man shot by RSD deputy

Here is an interesting case--not because of the circumstances or even because of the amount of the award, but rather because the court proceedings have revealed something about the character of the sheriff's department and the county. To quote the attorney in the case, "The county showed no interest in settling the case prior to trail, he said." This means that at numerous points during the process, when the county had the possibility of resolving the case out of court, they refused to do so.

We brought you this story last year after Upland PD shot at a young man they suspected was brown and in the wrong place. Now the brother, who fortunately survived the attack, is filing a lawsuit against the officers and the department for excessive force. Here's an article from the Daily Bull:
