Claremont PD shoot and injure unidentified victim

rQRo's picture

Apparently this happened on Cinco de Mayo but I am just getting wind of it now. This coverage from a TV news station doesn't have many details. Its not even clear if the vehicle was actually stolen, like the officers suspected (if we can believe their side of the story, that is). But it does talk about how the cops are claiming that the driver used the vehicle as a "weapon," which is a continuation of a trend we have been observing lately.

Here's the story from KTLA:

The incident from last week was short on details at the time, but some are beginning to emerge. Still a blackout on info about the perpetrator. See the sheriff's department's press release:

Jury clears city and officer in fatal shooting of David Ledezma

rQRo's picture

At the beginning of January 2012, the RPD shot and killed David Ledezma, who they accused of trying to kill them because he was drunk and waving around a length of pipe. He was no threat to them whatsoever, and the pigs are full of shit. This follow-up article came out in February, but we hadn't been able to post it up until now. Rest in peace, Mr. Ledezma. Justice for David Ledezma!

Riverside sheriff's deputy tries to shoot family dog, shoots own leg instead

rQRo's picture

Finally, a little bit of justice in the news, even if that justice is of the poetic variety. This unidentified deputy, an agent of the court, was serving someone some paperwork over on the East Side when he got spooked by the dog, who was probably just trying to protect its family from the act of aggression like any good dog would. And the deputy, rather than dealing with the situation like a rational human being, opted to take out his weapon and shoot at the dog. However, due to factors unknown, although presumably not more than utter ineptitude, the officer shot only himself.

DA clears SB sheriff's detective Joshua Smith in shooting death of Clyde Murray

rQRo's picture

The DA just issued his report exonerating this detective of any wrongdoing. Never mind that the guy was running away, not toward the police, or that he was attempting to climb a fence at the time the shooter claimed he was reaching for his waistband--or was he reaching into his bag? The story seems to have changed a few times over the course of the investigation. But nevermind the details. The DA's job is to find these guys acted within policy regardless of the circumstances, right?

Coachella police shoot and injure man

They are accusing the shooting victim of assault with a deadly weapon, saying they found a stabbing victim on site. Wishing the best for the injured and hoping for much more clarification on the part of the authorities.
