San Bernardino police department shoots and kills Alex Alvarado, 38

A conflict last week ended in the police shooting death of Alex Alvarado, 38, as well as the shooting injury of an SBPD officer. The department has released the victim's rap sheet, covered in an SB Sun article here:

Follow-up on NAACP support for Dante Parker

Fontana PD shoots and kills James Moala Kofu, 22

There was a news story on TV about this latest police killing by Fontana PD. Looks like it was a young Tongan or Pacific Islander brother that they are accusing of pointing a rifle at them. Here's a link:

SBPD officer Jose Jesus Perez convicted of on-duty rapes

It looks like these incidents were happening back in 2012 or perhaps sooner, although I don't recall hearing anything about them at that time. The good thing is that the department actually took the complaint seriously and passed it on to the feds, unlike what normally happens. Wishing health and speedy recovery and healing for the survivors of these horrible assaults. Here's some coverage:

DA clears SB sheriff's detective Joshua Smith in shooting death of Clyde Murray

The DA just issued his report exonerating this detective of any wrongdoing. Never mind that the guy was running away, not toward the police, or that he was attempting to climb a fence at the time the shooter claimed he was reaching for his waistband--or was he reaching into his bag? The story seems to have changed a few times over the course of the investigation. But nevermind the details. The DA's job is to find these guys acted within policy regardless of the circumstances, right?
