We have been waiting to hear what the followup on the Lamon Khiry Haslip death was going to be. We knew it was an injustice--the brother was shot in the back while handcuffed face-down on the ground. Well his family is filing suit! We wish them the best in the proceedings. Here's an article from the Press-Enterprise:

Off-duty cop shoots at (and misses) youngsters in Moreno Valley

Another incident from the beginning of the month. We know that these officers are shooting at people all the time, but it is amazing that even when they are off-duty, they are given the same anonymity as when they shoot in the line of duty. This case is particularly cryptic--the agency he works for is not disclosed, and even though the victims (referred to by the police state as "suspects") are not charged with anything, (i.e., didn't do anything) there is no investigation or charges brought against the aggressor.

Here's the sheriff's press release:

Just wanted to bring an update from the supporters of Lamon Haslip, affectionately referred to as "DaddyO." Stolen far too young, the family has been scrambling to come up with the funds to bury their beloved relative. They received substantial support at a recent carwash, however, earning $1,049 towards the $5,120 necessary for funeral expenses, according to the RipLamonKhiryHaslip facebook page.
