Riverside county sheriff's deputies in Moreno Valley are saying they chased this brother down and handcuffed him. Then, inexplicably, they shot and killed him. (They claim he had a gun.) Another young brother gone way too young. Let's see if the coverage helps paint a clearer picture:
Don't call 911. Remove it from your speed dial. If you accidentally pocket-dial it, it could be your last call. At least, that's what would seem to be the case in Moreno Valley. This case is kinda tricky, though. See, in order to enter your house, cops either need a warrant or "exigent circumstances," which is just fancy legalese to mean that there's some kind of emergency going on that would necessitate entry. Looks like cops are fabricating "exigent circumstances" in this case.
This article just came out in the Press-Enterprise. This is a case that our volunteers were involved in, by supporting the family as they brought their grievance to the Moreno Valley city council just after the police murder. At that time, it became clear that for anything to happen, higher authorities were going to have to get involved. It looks like that is what is happening, with the request for the US attorney to get involved.
